Nanakuli and Waianae Internship Program

The Chamber of Commerce Hawaii in partnership with the Hawaii Department of Education presents the Nānākuli and Wai’anae Internship Program. Students of the Nānākuli and Wai’anae complex can apply for this internship program to gain real-world work experience.

Hello Nānākuli and Wai’anae Students! Thank you for your interest in the Summer 2025 Internship Program. This internship is intended for you to explore a future career, gain valuable work experience, and get paid to learn. On this page, you will find program information, eligibility requirements, available internship opportunities, and application information. Remember to regularly check this page because new internship opportunities will be added weekly. If you are interested in multiple internship opportunities, you must individually apply to each position you’re interested in.

Internship Information:

Required Virtual Intern Onboarding Date: This is where you will meet your internship site mentors. Thursday, May 29 at 3 PM
Internship Window: June 2 – July 18
Deadline to Apply: Friday, May 9
Interview Time Period with Nanakuli – Wai’anae Complex: May 13 – May 21
Required Professional Development Sessions:
- Tuesday 6/17 from 3 – 4 PM
- Tuesday 7/1 from 3 – 4 PM
- Tuesday 7/15 from 3 – 4 PM
In-Person Internship Showcase @ Location TBA: Friday, July 18 from 3 – 5 PM
Hours: 60 hours total (cannot exceed 18 hours per week)
Stipend to be paid in full to student upon completion of internship: $1,200 (before taxes)

Eligibility Requirements:

Available at least 10 hours per week during the internship program.
A current student at Nānākuli or Wai’anae High School.
CTE level 2 Completer and enrolled in a CTE level 3 course in the Fall OR In a level 3 or level 4 CTE course aligned to the students’ program of study.
A GPA of 2.0 or above.
Attend all onboardings, professional development sessions, and sharing dates.
Cannot be a student from grad year 2025.
